Bracket Basics: How teams advance to the next round
Ten teams from every region advance to the next round: three teams from each league and a regional wild card team!
So to advance your team to the next round, you simply need to:
- Finish in the top three of your league. Or...
- Win the regional wild card.
The regional wild card is awarded to the best team in each region that did not finish in the top three of its league.
In the diagram below, the three top teams in the division are outlined in green, and the regional wildcard is outlined in orange.
The ten teams selected to advance from each region are placed together in a new league in the next round.
If you fail to advance, you're out of the tourney.
Every round in every tourney advances teams exactly the same way, so we simply repeat this process until we reach the final round.
