Entering A Tourney: How a tourney can start early

When a tourney is first opened for entries, the tourney is scheduled to start as late in the season as possible in order to give it as much time as possible to fill up. This is just a temporary schedule.

If a tourney fills and closes more than twenty-four hours before its entry deadline, then the tourney is eligible to be started early.

When a tourney is eligible to begin early, the system requires that all tourney entrants have at least twenty-four hours lead time before the first round's games. So the tourney's first round will be re-scheduled to start with the first full set of games whose earliest gametime is at least twenty-four hours after the tourney's closing.

Minimum entries required

Example: Let's say there's an MLB tourney that is scheduled to start with the Week 20 games. Its entry deadline is 15 minutes before the start of the earliest game in Week 20.

  • If the tourney fills and closes 24 hours 5 minutes before the Week 18 games are scheduled to start, then the tourney will start with Week 18.
  • If the tourney fills and closes 23 hours 55 minutes before the Week 18 games are scheduled to start, then Week 18 is skipped and the tourney will start with Week 19.
  • If the tourney fills and closes 24 hours 5 minutes before the Week 19 games are scheduled to start, then the tourney will start with Week 19.
  • If the tourney fills and closes 23 hours 55 minutes before the Week 19 games are scheduled to start, then Week 19 is skipped and the tourney will start with Week 20 as originally scheduled.
  • If the tourney fills and closes 5 minutes before the entry deadline, then the tourney will start with Week 20 as originally scheduled.

Whenever a tourney fills early and is re-scheduled, the system sends out email notifications to let tourney entrants know the the tourney is starting earlier than originally scheduled.
